This is good. Tapping the Strategic Oil Reserve is not good. We should be drilling where we know we have oil and keeping it in the U.S. for use by citizens.

Rather than bring down gas prices in the U.S., domestic oil companies are selling their gasoline overseas for big profits. It appears that profit trumps patriotism again.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the U.S. exported 430,000 more barrels of gasoline a day than it imported in September, That is about twice the amount at the start of the year, and experts and industry insiders say the trend is here to stay.

Quit screwing around and build the pipeline. We need the jobs. need the oil, need the tax revenue this will generate. What we don't need is more political posturing at the expense of the American public.

One has nothing to do with the other. Oil is available, but world market governs the price. Since speculators are predicting a shortage, they are investing in oil with the thought that prices will increase. This in turn is causing the increase. The US should continue expanding its purchase of crude from the Americas and reduce its dependence on the Middle East, which is too volatile at the moment. Increase trade with our neighbors.

Senate Republicans introduced legislation that would bar the Obama administration from using the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve unless TransCanada Corp.’s Keystone XL pipeline is approved.

Another utterly insipid partisan bill guaranteeing gridlock and grandstanding instead of compromising for the good of the American People. Congress should take a good look in the mirror, realize what a complete and utter disgrace they are to our nation and to the memory of our founding fathers, and resign en masse.....

So why is does the TEA/GOP glibly waste its time on this stuff ??
Does it not have way more important issues of importance that could actually create jobs and improve USA security ?

The Canadian oil will be sold at global market prices. We will still pay the same prices for gas. Supply of oil will always be too low in order to keep the prices high. The same is with gas where refineries are shut down for long periods of time or closed. Finally we have the government with their personal interests. Some people are corrupt and pretend to represent the people. There are some greedy senators with their own agenda.

I hope it's passed as I hate to see them using the reserve as Bush and Obama have done. Plus, we all need the jobs and at least some will get some work for another couple of years. Better to be working and employed than to be poorer than me, living on the streets, losing your house, etc.
