New cars are priced way too high. At least with used you save the extortionate freight charges, a/c taxes, and dealer "prep" (what prep ?). 2 yrs or older cuts the cost in half.

I have had great success purchasing "program" cars, which are no more than 1 year old.

Usually new, but it's based on what I can afford at the time and what I really need.

I prefer new cars- they usually have higher fuel mileage than older cars.

That depends on the use. If it will be used as a daily driver, I go with the most fuel efficient. If it is for seldom use, I go with what I can afford.

The last ones were new. Before that, used and between two and five years old. I get an insurance discount for a new car, so maybe that helps a little.
